Understanding the new logon throttling load evaluator options in Citrix Presentation Server 4.5
Brian Madden has posted a new article on his site about a new concept in Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 called “load throttling”. Load throttling was introduced to help mitigate a situation known as the “black hole effect” on Citrix Presentation Servers. In the article, Brian covers topics about what the black hole effect is, how Citrix attempted to mitigate the black hole effect via a load bias in MetaFrame XP, Presentation Server 3.0 and 4.0, and how Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 introduced “load throttling” to further tune the load bias calculations.
