Understanding and Troubleshooting context switches
Thomas Koetzing has written a very nice article about troubleshooting context switches including a brief overview, what causes context switches, and how to troubleshoot.
A context switch is basically the process of storing and restoring the state (context) of a CPU - allowing for multi-threaded applications. A high rate of context switches can degrade the performance of your Terminal Servers by over taxing the CPU. Check out Thomas Koetzing’s article for steps to identify and troubleshoot a high rate of context switches.
